Coolant wont flow back to radiator?

Doesn't exactly take a rocket surgeon to see the series of events there.

For all it is worth. The radiator cap has two sealing gaskets. The one at the bottom maintains proper system pressure by allowing coolant to flow into the catch bottle if pressure rating of the cap is exceeded. The top gasket seals the top of the radiator neck so that coolant can be drawn back from the catch bottle when the coolant volume decreases as the radiator cools. If the upper gaskets leaks the, coolant will not flow back into the radiator.
