1980 v6 distributor numbers???
i need to know which cylinders go to what terminal on the cap for a v6 1980 camaro.it says 1,3,5 on the drivers side manifold so the other side is 2,4,6 but i dont have numbers on my distributor cap.i have a book but its only for v8s can someone help me plaese
Ok, I dont havean illustration to post for referance so I will have to explain it. The order is 1-6-5-4-3-2.
Look at the motor from the top, standing on the pass side, with the fan to your right. the distributor cap has 6 terminals (duh) the one closest to you is number 1, the dizzy (distributor) should be towards the front of the engine, if not its not an 80 or 81 v6. I am looking at the chiltons guide right now. The pic here shows that there are four bolts on the sides of the cap, two on the driver and 2 on the pass, number 1 is between the two on the pass side. 6 is to the left of it, the rotation is clockwise. 2 is to the right of one, as you move around in a clockwise motion the order, on the cap from one is, 6-5-4-3-2 then back to 1. Hope this helps. I got this book of ebay for like 10 bucks, if you are going to be working alot on this I would reccomend it.
