Default distributor

I have a 1994 camaro z28. I have had the distributor replaced 3 times because of water getting inside. Here are my questions:

1. Is there any way to check the distributor without tearing the water pump out?
2. Are there any after market parts that can help this problem?

Thanks to all,

Abby

Default RE: distributor

MSD is now making a distributor to directly replace the Optispark, as it just came out, so the jury is still out on how good it really is.
Delteq makes a kit that replaces the optispark system with 8 individual coils, but still retains the low voltage portion of of the Optispark.
This appears to be a good system and is used on many high power LT1s
