Default RE: question about start up

Get a fuel injection pressure gauge. Attach it to the test port on the fuel rail. Turn on the ignition, but do not try to start engine. The fuel pump will go into the prime mode and pressurize the system. You may have to do this several times as the pump will shut down in about 15 seconds and may need more time to build up pressure. Fuel pressure should be 40-45 PSI. If nothing happens: the fuel pump fuse may be blown, the fuel pump relay died, fuel pump died. Pressure is low: sick pump, bad fuel pressure regulator, clogged fuel filter. Pressure too high: not likely to happen.
