I am going to be rebuilding the 350 engine in my 1969 Camaro, It is a 4 speed, car show and weekend driving, I do get on it at times. Anyone replace the stock aluminum bell housing with a scattershield type. The new motor will be around 400-435hp. never going to taken to a track. Thanks, Jerod
Just be sure to center shield about the flywheel. Don't relay on the pin locating holes for centering the clutch-to-flywheel.
Do not modify shield as this action will void warranty.
ever see a clutch explode ?
I saw the end results of one that did in a 57 chevy. a piece came through the floor and took one side of the hurst tee handle off. another piece came through the passenger side floor and went through the roof. one piece cut one side of the frame. the rest destroyed the engine
X2 to the power of infinity with Kevin.
Mine exploded also, had to replace windshield on a 1964 Impala, plus bellhousing, obviously, pressure plate, fix floorboard/tunnel, replace M22 Muncie.
Fortunately, no injuries to the driver, my grandfather, and he was using it for a daily driver when I was in the USN.
With over 500 Hp on my 1979 Z-28 Of course I will use a scatter shield. Plus if you do any form of racing they will require one .I use a Lakewood scattershield myself .Especially after I have seen a flywheel through a windshield .
I will get one when putting the motor back in, any fitment issues with Saginaw,T-10 or Muncie trans, from what it looks like the stock clutch fork will fit with no issues, and looks the same size as the stock aluminum bellhousing. Any one got one around here for sale. Thanks, Jerod
