Default Blasphemy to Camaro, or Ingenius idea?

When this project began, I asked myself for months which way to go with it. The car was picked up with NOS 1969 Camaro full quarters just starting to pitt, and I had an original 1969 SS front clip in the garage ready for refinishing. To restore a Firebird Sprint just wasn't in the cards, as I could not see selling a restore bird to buy my next Camaro. Its truly going to be nothing more than a beautiful clone car, but built by myself and my father and driven on occasion to shows and such will be worth it just to get folks reactions when they see the end product. I am always open for suggestions for interior mods and such, and welcome ideas from the Forum users who read the posting. Criticism is expected, along with cudos for the fine work we performed to complete this project. The pictures do no justice to this Firemist Red Metallic Lacquer paint work I did, but shes straight, all metal, and only has a couple AMD replacement panels in place. Ideas for completing the interior, and some trim on the exterior like wheel well moldings, rocker spears, and such would be great to hear about. Let me know who you recommend as the best quality replacements for those items as well. Looking forward to meeting up with some of you if you live in the Northeast Ohio Area for some shows and meets.

Hi Charlie, I myself think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. No matter what you decide to do with your ride, there will always be someone to criticize, it's inevitable. I would love to see the red you're talking about. As for making a clone, go for it. I think keeping with the factory options for seats is just fine, I happen to like factory interiors, but I would make subtle changes with billet trim, i.e window cranks, door handles. just my opinion. I also like factory consoles, and options that otherwise would have been available.
Stuart.

Did I miss something? I don't know what you're building, nor can I see it?

1971BB427-click the 1969 Chevy Camaro underlined link to see the project car. That's the only pictures posted thus far.

Default was doing the same thing

I bought a Fire Chicken shell with the same intention, & have a 67 clip from a camaro- after 5 years of having it now... I kind of like the dirty bird look. (Still interested in seeing what happens with your project in case I change my mind again)

Default Project near completion now!

Hey Pip, I have almost completed this project, its made its maiden voyage successfully around the block, and is off for a front end alignment to touch things up a bit. Still need to dial in the Edelbrock carb a bit, down jetting a 750cfm will be a breeze. Even with a healthy 355 .030 10.5:1 setup, its a bit big for a carb. I will attach a "so-far" pic for you on its current state.

Enjoy the builds!!!
Charlie
