Default Points Eliminator Kit.... Pertronix or Accel

I am getting ready to update the ignition system in my camaro to electronic. I want to keep the stock look so do not want to go with a box. I am planning on getting one of the points eliminator kits. I was just wondering what opinions are on which is better. Also if there are any pros or cons to the different way the two systems work (Accel with infrared and Pertronix with the magnet)

I have heard mixed reviews about both.
Also if I go with the Pertronix I would just be going with the original Ignitor series.

Thanks

I converted my '68 from points to a Pertronix system.
I have had no issues.
I noticed that the timing was much more consistant. i.e. it doesn't wander back and forth like the old points did.
No cons yet..but I only ran with it for one short season.

P.S. I went with the ignitor II, only because it was designated for "higher perfromance" cars. I did not go with the III as I did not want to play with the RPM limiter.

(I have used the Original Ignitor in my other old cars. They run equally well).

I've had NOOO problems at all with the Pertronix unit, and I've had it for over 3yrs.('67 350)If you decide on one, get the Flamethrower coil (1.5 ohm)to go with it,and then you can do away with the ballast resister too.

I have had the Pertronix system in several cars - zero problems, very reliable. I recommend the Pertronix II setup with the Flamethrower coil. There is upgraded circuit protection with the II, for example if ignition left on the II will not be damaged like the older Pertonix I could fail

i would go pertronix as well used then in several cars no problems. only problem with pertronix is with their actual distributor. put on in the family's 55 chevy and within in 50 miles thing goes out and gets me stranded on the side of the highway
