Default New Pertronix dist

I have a stock points dist on my 1969 Camaro with a mild 350 with a 4 speed. I am having issues with the current one I think. I have found out that the vaccum advance is not working and the breaker plate is locked. I am thinking about getting the Pertronix II. Motor has about 1,000 miles on it, 358, Vortec heads, Lunati hyro flattappet cam, with roller rockers, and Edelbrock 650 carb. Motor runs great always have had the cam addative since new. When I hit the gas it will pop, then gets thru it and goes. But it does not do it all the time. I have pulled all plugs and they all look the same and have added new MSD street 8mm wires. I tried to move the breaker plate to get the old vaccum advance off, but the plate was locked. I figure I will put a new dist in it with an electronic dist. Thanks, Jerod

That would be an improvement over the points.

I havent used the pertronix distributor, but I have put the pertronix units in stock distributors. I have been very happy with them. MSD 6al and distributor is another very good option. Good Luck!

Is the plate locked, or the vacuum advance holding the plate? Since you're planning on pulling it either way, I'd pull it out and see what's wrong first. I like Pertronix distributors, and kits. Both work well, but if I could remove and repair my distributor, I'd do the kit and save money over the whole distributor swap.
