I'm in the southeast and 8-14 for a driver seems a little low. 1 gens are hot and not easy to come by. Seems that anything driveable is 10 and up here. Gary Krahn is right about the squeaking urethane bushings. If anyone is interest my shop sells 1st. gen tubular arms WITH greasable del-alum bushings for $400 + $25 shipping to lower 48. We also sell a complete power disc brake kit for $525. Includes:11"rotors, dust shields, calipers, hoses, booster, mc, proportioning valve. Sorry for the advertisement.............Toni www.hrracecar.com

Sorry for being so vague. If and when I buy I'll probably be looking at a 69. Nothing personal to all you 68 owners but I for some reason don't like them. The 67's are okay, but not sure.

For everyone who has replied about me not stating what I actually am looking for. The straight answer is I don't know.

In 1997 I bought a 1964 Corvette Convertible. First wife (RIP) and I didn't have kids. She had her things and I decided I wanted mine. I've been a car nut all my life. We were pretty much set at the time and decided to buy a vette. Wanted something as a project. Well, after looking at two projects, I jumped on the second one (my '64). It is now (1/2011) I bought the car (8/1997) for $8,800.00. The car IS NOM (well actually NON-block). All other numbers checked out for the date of build. The car is the only vette to come off the line the day President Kenndey was assasinated (11/22/1963 for you non-histiry guys).

Anyway, 1/10/2011 I have still never driven the car or heard it run. May this year it will be on the road (God willing and the creeks don't rise). It has been a labor of love. I am now close (please don't tell my second wife) really really close to $50K into the car. Now it's nothing special, 327 30 over, 4 spd, 3.36 posi non original car. I have $12K in body and paint, and the rest is just stuff that needed to be done(i.e. soft top frame restored, frame fixed, seat reskinned, etc). Vette parts ain't cheap.

And to boot, my 1993 ZR-1 is in need of repairs. I think I need new injectors, but have been devoting my time to the '64. I do think my wife F'd the car up some how...

I dont' want to go that far down the road again. If I go that route it will be a street rod. I've always loved the Gen1 cars. When I bought my first car in 1978, the rule from my Dad was, if you don't pay cash you don't get the car. I had around $2K saved when I needed my first car. In 1978, Camaro's wre higher than what I could afford and the ones I could were rotted too far for me at the time. I ended up with a Chevelle (OMG).

I've been thinking about dumping the ZR-1 so that's why I originally posted my question. I do appreciate all the replies.

figure out what you want to spend and go from there. seems 69`s are the priciest of the 1st gens if you want a turn key 69 even a plane janer will probably be 15-20g my 8-14 is for a car that is solid but may need some work here and there which i prefer as i can build it to my wants and needs and not someone elses idea of what it should look and run like.

I bought my 69 RS/SS in 2009 for $18,500. It didn't have the original engine or transmission, but the body and interior were in great shape. It also had the original paperwork with it. The seller wanted $30k for it originally, but was in need of money and I came along at the right time. I had been looking for one for years and when the market took a dive I was finally able to afford one. You just have to be patient and eventually it will pay off.

Pricing depends on location. The economy has taken a big bite out of our cars worth these days. Different models will also bring a large varience in price.
Here is a list of ball park pricing for first gens running, with no to little body work but not restored.
Spt. Coupe---$10k-14k
SS---$14k-18k
RS---$12k-$14k
Z28--$17k-21k (with 302)
2nd gens--(70 1/2--73) $7k-$12k
get one now when the economy comes back prices will almost double.
