Default Kill switch install

Does anybody happen to know which color wire from the ignition switch I can tap into to install a kill switch on my 1969 Camaro,(want to make it much harder for anybody that might want to punch the ignition, if there’s an easier way I’m all ears!)

Default Battery Disconnect

Not sure if my way is easier, but it surely is effective. I intend to install a battery disconnect switch, located on the passenger skirt near the battery, once my Camaro comes back home. This interrupts the negative lead from its tie to the engine's battery return bolt (popularly called a 'ground' point). It is activated with a remote on my key chain.

I will complement this with twin round-key hood locks that prevent my hood from being opened by anyone lacking a cutting torch or cutting grinder. I used these locks for many years when I was driving my Camaro in the 1980's. Back then, I would remove my coil wire and then lock the hood. I am told that this style of key lock is difficult to defeat. My theory is that I cannot prevent a true professional from taking my Camaro, as he will bring a tow truck to the party, but I can at least keep people honest, who are not that well equipped.

@1st Gen That sounds like a good approach. Would you mind sharing what kill switch you found that has a remote? Also, are the round-key hood locks you mentioned the silver pins that come through the top of the hood or something else? I'm not keen on poking holes in my hood and would prefer to add a lock that can be mounted in the grill near the hood opener.

Battery Disconnect can be purchased here: https://www.redarcelectronics.com/us...t-sbi-12v-100a

and looks like this:

Hood locks are NOT unsightly in my opinion. Here you can see them on my Camaro in a pic from the early 1980's:

They are still available here:

and the kit looks like this:

I was never particularly concerned about drilling holes in my hood, as I love my car very much, but don't worship it. What you see on each side of the hood is a large washer, chrome plated, with a small round keylock in the center. Not at all unsightly. The tricky part is drilling the holes in the right place, directly above radiator core support, as their internal posts fasten into that cross-piece. You can see one of my originals, still in place as they work on my restoration:

@1st Gen Thanks for all the detailed info. Thats one beautiful ride you have! I agree the locks aren't that unsightly and might consider it. My car is still relatively new for me and I'm just taking my time on modifications I want to make.

Sears used to sell a battery that had a remote control with it. Not only would not allow the battery to output enough power to start the car when it was set is would also detect the voltage of someone opening a door and set off an alarm. You could even put the mercury lights under the hood and trunk, if opened the power draw would set the alarm off.

The battery was $120 more then their gold battery at the time I bought it. 5 years later I went to buy a new one and they did not sell them anymore. Salesman said they were a fire hazard, Was it really an unfixable issue?
