Default hood lock/pin

I had my first incident last week. Driving home from a show with the '68 RS and the hood latch decided it would be a great time to fail. Fortunately, it didnt wrap over. Ive got a little repainting to do and one small ding in one quarter panel from the bracket. Ive got some new chrome hinges ordered (been wanting them anyways) and am going to put either hood pins or lock on. I dont really like the look of the pins with cable so ive been looking at locks. Theft isnt a concern so the push kind are fine, but im not finding alot of options for those. Any suggestions either way on pins, locks, finish? Ive some that twiost but they say they were what mustangs used to use. I like the look but dont know about putting pony stuff on a chevy.

Well for me, theft WAS and IS a concern, so I bought and installed key locks. These used the round keys that are said to be VERY difficult to pick. My Camaro doubles as an eventual coffin if my wife and son don't want it when I leave, so I didn't care whether I was impacting the value of the car. My parking procedure in thefty neighborhoods was to pop the hood, remove and take the coil wire and then lock the hood, and I survived for many years, since I didn't encounter any professional predators (tow truck and/or dolly types). I drove the car every day for five or six years before storing it for restoration and never found the above process to be very painful. I have to say, in addition, my hood never lifted while driving, and I drove it a lot.
