Default Tire recommendations for 2010 RS

Just bought a new (slightly used) 2010 RS with 20" alloy rims and Pirelli tires. The car is flat scary to drive in the snow. Wife looked/googled and found info that these are summer tires and should not be driven anywhere in the snow. WHAT? I have a 97 Camero and go anywhere I want all year long. The RS is outrageous. Any suggestions? My tire shop told me they would put on a set of Pirelli Scorpions for about $275 each. I'm thinking of ditching the 20" rims and going old school with some 16" rims and more standard size wheels. Any advice would be appreciated. This is my wife's car but if I don't get a fix soon, the family will be one less Camero and I LOVE this car!

The pirelli scorpions that 'your place' is suggesting is the same exact tire that comes on the Camaro which doesn't let you go anywhere. You can downgrade to a 17" or 18" rim but no lower because if I am correct, a 16" wheel will not clear the front calipers. Then, you will have plenty of tire options to go with that have an all season design. Plus more sidewall for a little bit better ride comfort.

The Continentals are WAY superior to the Pirelli when it comes to A/S traction.

Just a stupid point - if you're driving in the snow, why not get a set of 17" steelies and true snow tires - like Blizzaks, Hakkas or Conti ExtremeWinters?

That way, you can swap back for the stocker 20's and enjoy the summers, too.
