Hi all,

I am due for new tires, and would love to hear your recommendations for them on a 2001 SS.

Assume no or very little driving in snow, and some rain -- mostly ideal conditions.

Good overall performance and price: Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals, if you're lookin' for a good drag radial...well, I'm in no position to tell you about them...

 

I had yokohama ES1000 I think, they were a Z rated tire and did great on the road, in rain and on road tracks. I am currently running sumitomo's , so far they are doing good.

 

I opted for the 275/40ZR-17 98Y Michelin Pilot Sport, the car previously had the similar all season version of these tires, but I try to keep this out of the snow/ice/salt!

What's the general opinion here on these Michelins? While not cheap, they seemed to be the best choice from what I researched.

 

I recommend GoodYear Eagle F1 GS 285/40 ZR17 i got them all around on my 01 SS and they are perfect for daily driving, plus they are rated extremely well in the rain. Look them up on just tires.com the tread pattern is awesome. The down side is that they are very expensive. Ask any tire dealer, these tires are highly recommended by anyone.

PS they hook incredibly well for street tires...it dropped my e/t about 2 tenths!
