Talking Looking to buy my first Camaro...

I'm an 18 year old university student that had been obsessed with the Camaro since I could comprehend what it was. I currently have an 01 Monte Carlo SS, and I think it's time to have an addition to the family...a 5th gen SS. I can swing the monthly cost from an on campus job including insurance etc., but i'm looking for any tips, words of advice, and anything else I should know. I looked at a 2011 2SS convertible today that was $17,776 with 55,000 miles. Any price suggestions? Thank you.

- Also I hope I posted this in a decent location, as im new here.

At 18 if you can do it ,just know your going to a very powerful car from an 01 monte,i would say the price is a bit high ,i also would say ,look for a good 4th gen the cost is alot less ,for one with 55k you may pay 10 k to 12k if you shop less even shop hard i seen 2002 ss go for 6k on craigs list with 60k miles,i seen 2015 ss with 50k miles go for 15k on auction, ,i would also say at your age ,be very careful with that much power ,when i was 18 ,cars like that were un heard of,,as i got older i also relized cash was better for me ,but if it helps your credit then go for it ,but shop for a better price ,no matter what you do

An remember most people at you age there first camaro is a v6,but just be very greatful if you can get in one an take very good care of it ,i say that couse at your age i may not have been greatful that is.also dont forget to account for the cost of insurance,an dont get in any accidents to after 25 if you can avoid one,i know this kid got into small fender bender that was his fault at 18, an pays like $1800.00 per year for a v6 truck chevy colorado

Thanks for the information! I've been warned by my parents about the massive power increase and i'm looking to do some practicing with a higher power car soon (hopefully). I will look into the 4th gen's as well, I have always been obsessed with the body style and more "raw-ness" to them!

yes i think they are just a better looking car more style though the new ones are getting there, that being said ,i got to say have the 5th gen cars an 6th gen car started to look attractive since 2010 yes i got to admit that ,but for bang for your buck shop hard for a 4th gen ss or z28 an even better deal would be a z28.

A dieing breed though they will be around for a long time 2017 was to be the last year for the z28 lets see an only made 2 years since 2002,they can get some upgrades that will put them close to the same stock power of a 5th gen ,a 2002 ss would have 325hp stock is alot for the road, about 100hp less but, with some bolt ons most of that can be made up ,then like some ls6 heads an intake cam can put it at the same hp or more for 3k
an ss is just a look .side by side an ss an z28 are the same car,in a race would just be the skill of the driver has to who wins, haveing them both one an ss clone monster,i actually perfur the z28. throw an ss hood on it got the same car with the slp an a few other things

thing is the cars will drive like a v6 until you get on the gas pedal, then you find out the fine line of the power ,just drive it for 6 months before you ,get on it then go slow,,biggest thing with them is getting into the pedal in a corner will make you lose control fast or traction ,on wet pavement too
