Default Bluetooth Feature

Okay guys, please bear with me; I’m really not as ignorant as this post is going to sound....I’m accustomed to dealing with Bluetooth issues on a myriad of electronic devices, not cars.

WARNING: I tend to go overboard with details and can be somewhat long-winded, so before reading further, please make sure you have Excedrin in one-pound tablets on hand.

Okay, here goes: I own a 2010 Camaro SS, purchased new. Music is a must when traveling; I don’t care for AM, FM, or Sirius radio but always listen to custom-recorded CDs instead, though CDs are no doubt destined to follow the demise of cassettes and eight-track cartridges. I have an iPod 7th Generation with Bluetooth capability that I’d love to listen to through my vehicle’s stereo speakers when I’m traveling (and through my home stereo system when I’m not). The remaining option is a Bluetooth or USB connection.

This is where the stupid starts. I don’t have a clue if my car has Bluetooth capability or not. The owner’s manual doesn’t say one way or another, but investigating the interior gives no sign of a Bluetooth connection or a USB port. No doubt the dealership can install both but I’ve not yet investigated that in any depth. There IS an audio jack in the console (heck of a place to put it!) but when I connect the audio cable on the iPod to it, my best description of the sound that emanates from the car’s speakers is nothing short of verbal vomit.🤮

i tried a Bluetooth adapter/receiver that plugs into the 12V/cigarette lighter. No luck there either.

I was told that if I have OnStar, the car has Bluetooth. Oh, yeah? Where?

I know it’s practically impossible to have a car for eight years and not know squat about it....heck, I don’t even know how to change the time, much less what functions are in the menu I don’t know how to get to. All I’ve ever done is listen to CDs, so the entire interface is a mystery to me.

Help, anyone? Thanks!

According to a 2010 sales brochure, this is standard equipment on a 2LT or 2SS Camaro and optional on the 1LT model. If you have the 1SS, it doesn't look like it was available. I've attached a couple of pages from the brochure that list this information.
