HID headlights...anyway to legally use in the USA?
HID headlights...anyway to legally use in the USA? Besides if the car is made with these ?
and are there any good aftermarket bulbs that perhaps similate the clean bright white of the hid and help better light the road and "ARE LEGAL"? or are they trash?
so far my research tells me these are illegal if the car wasn't produced with them
thanks

Headlights are controlled by the US DOT and have to be as installed by the car manufacturer. There are after market HID kits but none are really legal. After market HID bulbs are also sold but do not work as well as the factory units because the headlights do not have the proper projector lenses & reflectors.
I agree with Pete. HIDs are cool, but a good alternative I've found for vehicles without them factory installed are a high kelvin lightbulb. I personally like Sylvania Silverstars, Silverstars Ultras, and Sylvania Xtravisions. If you get an aftermarket HID kit anyone that knows anything about cars will know that they are aftermarket and that you're trying to be a poser.
Yep is illegal, im not sure if you do a housing conversion though, but no camaros were ever offered with hids so it doesnt matter.
If you are going to get hids do it right, get some nice projectors and retrofit them into your housings and etc. A great place to read up on and learn a ton about hids and learning and looking at peoples' retrofits is www.hidplanet.com
