Default Good rubber

Ok guys,
So I need to get new tires first thing this spring along with an alignment. We have a Goodyear tire store and an independent tire store that sells BF Goodrich, Firestone, Michelin, Uniroyal, Bridgestone and Summit tires.

I've got a set of 15" Centerlines.

Question: What's the best tire among all these brands for street and strip application?

Thanks!

Either the Goodyear MT radials or the BFGoodrich Drag Radials should be good and not so bad in price.

Thanks SprSSBalt,

Do you have a link for the Goodyear MT's? I can't seem to find them on the Goodyear site.
The Eagle's don't look to bad.

Nice thing is, I've got a few months to do my homework on these, and at least now I have a starting point.

I would order your tires from tirerack.com and then take rims to a shop for mount and balance...save yourself a bundle. Also they have a rating system you can use to comapre different tires to make sure what you buy is the best.

Thanks RM.

I need an alignment anyway, and besides, I don't know what the biggest tire I can stick under the car so I figured I'd just bring it in and let them tell me how big I can go without rubbing, and what tire is available in a 15" rim.

One thing I have to consider also, is that I have a 2" drop on my rear springs and I don't want my tires to rub. I had an 82 firebird that rubbed and it drove me crazy, not including the little pieced of rubber that chunked out of the sidewall everytime I hit a big pothole.

I got my wheels and tires through Discount Tire. Discount ordered the wheels that I wanted from OE Wheels and had it shipped to my Discount Tire store. I paid the price of the wheels, tires and the $10 mounting and balancing fee. Shipping was free.

Well, next time I purchase tires I might buy them online, maybe. But like I said earlier, I don't know how big of a tire I can go with safely, so I want to take it into the guys that know, and can measure the clearance.

Another factor is that I live in a relatively small town in Michigan and with the Michigan economy the way it is, and as thankful that I am to have a job I'd like to give back to my local community.

Not that I have anything against ordering online. Like I said, maybe next time.

So my choice is either go to the local Goodyear dealership, or the other independent that carries a broader range of tires.
