Need some new Rubber
My daily summer driver is a '95 Z28 LT 1 6 speed which I've owned since '96 after I sold my '84 Z28 5.0L H.O.
It's in great shape, and runs like the day I bought it.
I've had a number of different tires on it. The last two sets I've been running on have been the BF Goodrich G-Force KD.
255/40/17 on the fronts
275/35/17 on the rears
Rims are SS Camaro 5 spokes from SLP. 17" x 9.5"
Car has been lowered 1 1/2" with an after market spring kit from RK Sport.
I love the G-Force KD.
My dilemma is that I had the static camber in the front adjusted to -1.25 degrees. Not recommended for daily driving.
This caused the inside edges of the front tires to go down to wires almost. The middle and outside edges are fine and nowhere near the wear indicators.
It looks like BF Goodrich has discontinued the KD. So I cannot simply replace the fronts. Which has me in a bit of a dilemma. Unless I can find some G-Force KD's to replace the fronts, I have no alternative but to replace all 4 tires. I don't like the newer variations of the G-Force KD's from BF.
Anyone know where I can get 2 new G-Force KD's to replace my fronts?
Short of that. I have looked at the Hankook Ventus R-S3 and the Nitto NT 01, the NT 01 and the NT 555R.
I'm not so concerned with wet weather, as I also have a truck for the nasties. Looking for a street legal large tread block dry tire.
I did see a guy with an SS Camaro with a sinister looking set of low profile large treadblock tires a few years ago, which I suspect were probably the Nitto's.
Any thoughts, comments, recommendations, experiences to share?
TIA.
Cheers

ive heard the nittos run small. but if i was you i would replace all 4 and fix your problem. and the 555r's are drag radials so not really meant for all 4 corners.and the brand i use is a off name there generals i think and their a great tire. they get sticky and work well in all weather and last too. and arent too much money

Thanks for your response.
I just put my summer wheels back on the car yesterday. The inside portions are not as bad as a thought. They are bald, but from the middle out towards the outer edge, still have plenty of life before they get down to the wear indicators.
I think I will simply re-adjust the camber closer to factory specs. With the factory specs, I was always burning the outside edge off of the fronts.
My last pair of G-Force KD's were almost worn down to slicks, and although the rubber had gotten hard, when heated up, the grip was pretty good.
I love the response of this tire, and it's ability to recover when you begin to drift slighty at high speeds. You start to drift in a high speed corner, and the tire will generate heat quickly and increase it's grip and get you straightened out again. Kinda like getting a second wind.
Wish BF was still making this tire.
I also spoke to a friend yesterday ( former road racer )who's getting a set of the Nitto's for his car. I'll see how he feels about them, and post his impressions.

Which model Nitto's do you have on your car WM2006?
I was looking at the Nitto NT-05 and the Nitto NT-555.
I was also told about the Hancook Ventus R-S3 , the Falken Azenis RT-615, and the Cooper Zeon RS-3 designed by Roush Performance.

i only have a 3.8 camaro. but i have hancook ventus hrII's 245/50/16. i can't give you any info on the rs-3 specifically, but i will say this: i got this new set of tires for only 400 bucks, and i thought they just looked cool, didn't think they would give me a huge handling boost, i was on a budget anyway. i was wrong. i had never heard of hancook before, and thought they were too cheap to be true, but my car is like a different car on the road now. definitely look into the rs-3, i'm looking it up right now actually. you have more horsepower obviously, so the tires on mine may not be the best way for you to go, but i'm sure the higher end hancooks have to be good.
