Default 06 Mustang GT vs 2010 Camaro

Just joined this forum becuase I had two run ins with Camaro's the past two days. I didn't want to come on here and boast 2 wins just cuz I drive a mustang but becuase i love all fast cars...actually looking for a 2010 SS right now for the gf

...anyways the stories

1st run was against a 02ish z28, I was in a lane that merged pretty quickly so I jumped on it and noticed the camaro next to me get on it pretty hard as well. We ran to about 65 and shut down. I had put about 4 car lengths by the end of 2nd gear.

2nd run was a 2010 SS from 20 to about 130ish. I had heard this amazing exhaust note coming from the back end of the car in front of me and saw the SS badge so i knew it was on. We got a good straight away, and I asked for a 3 count but he jumped on the gas after 1 so I hit it a second after. I immediately stopped his pull and put about 5 car lenghts and shut down. We chatted for a second, turns out he was stock except for exhaust cutouts. Nice guy, he gave me a thumbs up and I did the same.

Got a quick vid of the 2010 race..

06 Mustang GT-Saleen Supercharged @12 psi, Saleen Suspension, Dual GT 500 fuel pumps

your racing stock camaros with minor exhaust upgrade +10 hp if that lol. Is that a race? Im kinda curious on the upgrades of your car if theres any.

2010 2SS Camaro - 426 hp $33,945

2006 Mustang GT Saleen - 470 hp $51,102

Just saying im sure with the 17k price differance i could find another 100 horses in a 2010 2ss Camaro.

lets not start a pissing contest. OP, im sure you realize that coming in with kill stories as your first couple posts is just bad form. you are asking for trouble. also, any trouble started here gets you in trouble with all AFU sites (including mustangforums.com). but your post seems fairly benign, so (to everyone) lets keep this fun

I've been around different forums long enough and also visited this one enough to know how people feel about their cars so this was not at all to throw flames at the fire as per my origional statement. This particular car was exaclty what I'm looking for in a second vehicle ...anyways to 1998silvermaro my car started out as a stock GT its wayy cheaper to do the $6500 in upgrades than go with a $51000 price tag in a saleen extreem. So $27k plus $6500 is just around the same price as a new camaro ss. Plus all the fun is in the build because the car will mean more to you. I didn't know going into this race that he had only an exhaust upgrade all I knew was is sounded sick when he was reving at me while I was behind him and wanted to see if he was on any forums.

Im not trying to be rude or anything. I like hot rods just like the next guy. i was just doing a compairson on $$$$ to Horsepower. Ive seen people say like OHH my 1992 300zx twin turbo out runs your ls1 swapped 92 camaro... and there like going off how they have 20k + the cost of this car into the 300zx... im like really can u even say u beat a car that the car cost like 2k the motor swap prolly around 3k? Im more of a $$ to HP kinda guy. I also have a question about the mustangs you know how the newer ones have the slanted headlights. Can u get a conversion to put them on the older ones? By the way nice ride that color is my favorite color on a car.

I have a lot of respect for SCs197GT in the fact that he built his own motor up, thats what its all about no matter what you drive, anyone can go to a tuning company and pay $$$$$$ for mods. Big example is he in UK a company tunes Monaros up (pontiac GTO) and its like $5600 for a pcm tune, intake and exhaust and a mild cam (fitted) wtf I could have a 500 hp camaro for that

With reagrd to the race too no matter what your up against you always go for it, I saw a nice mustang a while back on the high way and he drop it down a gear so I did, i flew past the guy and his was a V6, so fair enough but we were both still up for the race. If both guys are up for it then its game on

Word. What he said ^. Anyone who is up for a racing, an *** handing is sometimes part of the game.

And the fact of the matter is, no matter what.. it's almost always cheaper to take a used older car.. and pack in tons of horsepower.. for cheaper than buying brand new.. case in point.. I live in Canada and my Z28 cost about 9k. For 21k I could have a 7 second camaro in the 1/4 mile. No matter what; anyone who builds a car up or puts the same amount in to a brand new car, the built up car SHOULD come out on top everytime.

Nice races man, thats a badass car

Thank you gentleman!! I like to look at the power to money ratio as well especially when the money is in the 100k and up range. I mean I would absolutely love an exotic but its also fun to hang with those guys in a car thats costs substantially less. I got a thumbs up from a lambo driver last week just cuz he heard me down shift to change lanes to make my exit.

As far as the slanted lights in the new mustang..you have to change the entire front end to do the conversion. Ive seen guys do it especially when the gt500 came out with that front end, but it costs quite a bit for a visual mod...

See the thing about Mustangs is that they are slow, but with the amount of parts for them and the ease of installation, they can be really, really fast.

But they're so slow stock that everyone thinks they're slow pieces of junk. So when you lose to a Mustang you're embarrassed to admit it. You don't mind admitting to losing to a Vette or a Lambo or Lancer or STI. But you hate to say you lost to a Stang.

Kinda like losing to a Civic. You wouldn't believe how fast some of those eco-boxes are. Even saying that one of them kept up with you is embarrassing.
