New old project-1946 Austin gasser
Thanks! It definitely was! I'm pretty sure we'll be hauling down to Fresno for the Eagle Field Drags next May also. It's supposed to be even bigger, so looking forward to even more fun. They run two days, and use an oldtime flagger to start the cars on Sat., then lights on Sunday.
I was having a little trouble with my line lock switch when at the track late last month. I couldn't use it to really heat up the tires in the water box, so I gave up and just did what I could to power brake it and get some heat on the tires.
One of my buddies told me he had a new shifter handle with switch, so I got it from him this weekend and installed it today. Nice long leads on it, so I was able to fish it under the carpet and connect it at the firewall, where the old switch connected.
It's got a label in the top that reads: "Nitrous Oxide", so I'll have to see if that clear cover comes off to eliminate that. But it holds the solenoid better than the old pushbutton!

I would, but photobucket has been down for two days now!
Local TV station covered the big car show in Oregon City, Or. Usually they don't waste their time, but I'm guessing either news was slow, or the producer/photographer is a car guy.
Nice pictures under the Heading, "Hotrods take over historic downtown Oregon City".

Speaking of shows, I went to an annual car show that's held at an old abandoned race track. You probably would have drooled over this one, 1949 Austin pickup with a measly big block, blower, dual quads, and the popular "hood delete" option!

Nice PU! Wonder how that little radiator cools the blown big block with a pusher fan?
I'd love to find an Austin or ****** PU and do a big block in it! My buddy has one with a 350 and crossram intake.

Yeah, I didn't talk to the guy, but the radiator was a thick one. The engine fit in there quite nicely, although the firewall was perfectly flat which I doubt was like that originally. That made the inside look a little goofy (t-bucket like), with basically a flat dash, compared to yours where your feet tuck under.
