Default Nitrous with Stock Plugs?

Can you use a 75-100 shot of nitrous with the stock A/C plugs? I was thinking about doing this, but also using a Mallory 685 to retard the timing about 2 degrees or so and to set up the rpm window for spraying, etc. I ask because I changed the plugs just a few months ago. Not fun as everybody knows, and frankly, I don't know if I really want to change them again so soon. The smart thing to do would've been to use some foresight about this, i.e. installing colder plugs at that time In case I wanted to do this later-hindsight =20/20--Doh!!. My car runs pretty cool (160-170) because of the gutted thermostat and manual fan switch, and I only race occasionally at Redding Dragstrip; but, still, I'm pretty concerned about having some nasty intake backfire or ?????????? I suppose I could answer my own thread and just start with a 50 hp shot and see what happens and then try 75 and then progress to a 100 shot if all was OK. But, on the other hand, considering this is about NITROUS, I think that it would be wiser to learn from someone else's experiences. Anyone been there, done that? Thanks in advance!

(Nitrous)+(stock plugs)= Bad idea

Keep in mind a 100 shot is a lot of nitrous going into a motor. You also want to get use to checking your plugs often or at least after each track day or after a few bottles. You also may want to check around and see what kind of gap some of the other LT1 guys are running on there nitrous set up. If it was me i would go one stage colder just to be on the safe side but thats just me.

Running stock heat range plugs with Nitrous can cause detonation and complete engine failure, in some cases, I would get some cooler plugs, its cheap insurance. At least 1 range cooler, if your going over 100 shot go 2 heat ranges.

I agree with this guy...running a 100shot drop to 2steps colder..you really dont HAVE to pull any timing for 100 but its better to be safe than sorry..im not gonna pull any when i get my setup installed although i am gonna use the colder plugs
