LOL as alwase SPEC your my hero. This is a normal set up on most late modles. The only thing that is different from my set up is i have a ZEX window switch basicly the same thing. Nitrous when used correct is just as safe as running a turbo or blower. All power adders add strees on the engine not just nitrous and by running too much of any thing BOOST OR NITROUS something is going to give. Its been proven over and over again. I spend alot of time around guys that for lack of a better turm are ricers. They talk about how nitrous will blow your engine. They are the same guys thatcan buy a 60 intake that will add 35 HP to there D15 civic lol. For the ones that know a little more we know that nitrous has great benifits and a few draw backslike any power adder.

 

My opinion on nitrous......takes away all the skill. I respect a racer with skill and commitment much more than someone who hits a button to pass someone at the last second. I dont hate nitrous...just dont like it either

 

Once again there is no little red button. Nitrous is a art. Traction, timing, stages,shot size, all become part of when and how you use it.

come on people, i want someone educated on the subject to post. ill go throw my bottle away right now if someone can give me a legit reason in a real life (not F&F) application to get rid of it.

almost nobody uses push button systems anymore. every kit sold now that ive seen comes with a wide open throttle switch, so it works just like any other power adder. you do not go warp phase 10 (well, 9.5 for nick cuz hes a pansy and only shoots the 75 [8D]) when you hit the button. if you are behind in a race and hit it last second, you will still lose the race. It isnt awesome sauce (anyone who got the homestar reference is now officially cool). most people have it set up to run the entire length of the track. my 2ndary switch in the schematic above is designed so i can quickly engage the system in 2nd gear because i am an M6 car on a stock rear end and 200 ft lbs hitting all at once does nice things in 1st. However, this puts me in a distinct disadvantage because now my car is under-powered during the first 4-5 seconds of the race as compared to any other car.


i would like to know, how is mashing the pedal down in an auto SC car more skillful than coordinating and sticking a launch knowing that as soon as you go WOT the torque dynamics of the entire car will change dramatically in a nitrous car? In my old mustang (and on a crappy track with crappy hankook tires (never buy them, they suck *** (seriously, they are the reason i drive an fbody today may she rest in piece...))) (damn thats alot of parenthasis....) if i powershifted i could rip the wheels loose in the 2-3 shift. There is more to keep track of with nitrous, therefore it takes more skill.

for my setup, once i put in the big shot I will need to quickly shift 1-2, then flip the last switch. upon doing this my car will then gain about 150 hp and over 200 ft lbs and it will perform EXACTLY like a car that has 150hp/200tq over a stock ls1. no flames, vertigo, scotty need not beam anyone up!

you are allowed to have an opinion. a friend of mine has an lt4 converted 97 TA. he hates nitrous with a passion. he thinks its cheating. but then he followed that comment up with "you need to stay naturally aspirated, and maybe go turbo or something" [>:]. i have realized that EVERYONE who knocks nitrous is completely ignorant on the subject. with this in mind, u can still ahve ur opinion, just do urself a favor andrealize that its wrong.

for the record, the "wait to hit it" philosophy was started in the fast and furious. i believe it was the scene where someone sprays and the other racer says something like "too soon" and then wins the race.

you can safely spray on a motor for 15 seconds. if its taking u longer than that to cross the finish line you need to sell your GEO Metro and/or honda fit.

Every thing Specter said is very true. It is a art. You want to start the cycle as soon as traction allows you too this may sound easy but even in a Auto this is no easy task. I have a first gear look out on mine this means the car will not start its cycle until it hits second gear that’s just for starters, Window switches are set up to control what RPM range the system will engage at and shut off at. That’s just for starters. Like Specter said the engine has to be at “WOT� or (wide open throttle) for the solenoids to activate and most units use some type of FPSS just to be on the safe side. You also have a master switch mine is inside the center consol next to my fan, bottle heater, and purge. I keep it out of sight because I don’t like people asking what the switches are for, Most people don’t understand nitrous and its too much time trying to educate them after FF. By the way all this is on a basic set up. If you want you can go on and on about duel shots, direct injection, plate injection, dry single shot, wet single shot, running nitrous with slicks traction switches, etc. So yes nitrous is a little more than hitting a red button.[sm=closed.gif]

and specter i will soon be uping to a 100 shot and getting tuned for the nitrous so i'll be at warp speed 10 whenever i hit that button

 

my NX 150 shot will be going in when i get back from vacation. its wheel rated, so its similar to a NOS or zex 180ish shot i believe [sm=badbadbad.gif]

 

i have been told all wet kits are wheel rated and dry are crank rated

im getting tuned soon for a 100 shot

i don't know how much my A4 is going to like this at all so i think im gona drop my shifts down to 6200 and stop spraying at 6000 then get a cooler
