Geday from downunder

I used to be a member here but cant remember who I was!!! getting old ))
ok so Ive got an 82 3rd gen t top, well it used to be a t top but ive made a lot of changes over the years, when I first bought it it had a 305 under the hood, it now has a 350, it was converted to right hand drive before I bought it, not a bad job but could have been done a lot better.
When I installed the 350 I decided to go with a set of headers!! first major headache, had to completely redo the steering, works great photos coming later.
I' ve upgraded the suspension over the last few years, Eibach 2'' lowered springs all round, UMI rear sway bar and Panhead bar, new shocks front and rear. Just got the gearbox (Saginaw 4 speed) back after a complete rebuild, also installed a ACE Hydraulic thrust bearing while the box was out.
Ive got my own 4ton car hoist, (like I said i'm getting old and have had enough of laying on my back under cars getting **** in me eyes!!) so working under the car is not a problem, completely high pressure cleaned the under side and sprayed it with U-POL Raptor (black all new suspension is bright red so looks very cool now.
Ive made lots of other changes but I think i've talked enough for now.

Cheers Joe

Sure looks clean, looks like a lot of hours. Did you stick with the steering box or go to a rack and pinion? Just a heads up, those Saginaw are not the strongest. I broke the case on one with a 250 hp 350 and street tires back in the day. That was with a posi 10 bolt at a sticky track. Muncie or T10 would be more then enough for the track for a stock ish 350.

I am a huge camaro fan boy buy now i daily drive a GTO (AKA a Holden LS1 6 speed)

Hey Gorn, nice to meet, Ive just had the Sagi rebuilt so its a bit late re the Muncie, however if I Brake the Sagi I'll look at the Muncie.
Just at the moment I'm trying to find out where the tail peice on the Sagi comes from? The mounting bolts for the shifter are on the R/H side not the L/H side?? all the Saginaw gearbox photos i have looked at show the shifter mounted on the L/H side?? I am assuming the tail piece is from another box? but which one?
I blasted the underside with a 3500 psi water gun, then applied Upol Raptor<, that stuff is bloody great, and dries like a rock ) oh yea I stuck with the steering box but had to do a lot of work relocating the steering shaft, I'll post some pics.

Cheers and thanks for the heads up

Joe

Don't overlook a T-10 either, much stronger than the Saginaw as well.
I ran one or I should say pounded on one hard behind a 427 for years, tough as nails.

Joe, welcome back to Camaro Forums.
For fun, I looked up your current IP address, no other user names linked to it. You may have moved or are using a different carrier since then?
