Default New to the block

Hello, my name's Jason and I'm new to the forums. I bought a 74 Type LT Camaro locally that needed some restoration for a pretty good price. I've always been really good with my hands and mechanical work though I have to admit it's been a while since I've really done that stuff. I grew up on a farm in Alabama working on tractors, trucks, cars, goats, cows, etc., etc. I'm now a 3D artist/animator for a game company and have decided to get back into doing some physical work to get me out from behind a computer and outside in the sunlight/moonlight. My first car was a 78 Thunderbird with a 351 Windsor and that was a fun car... a boat, but a fun car none-the-less. I totalled it about a year after getting it when I was 18 by driving it off a bridge... wow... 13 years ago tonight. Creepy... Anyways, yeah. I really wanted a 67 or 68 camaro (or a 68 firebird) and was going to wait a little while longer to get one but this came up and was a decent deal and looked like a fun drive so I got it. It's got the Z28 L82 350 SB with a TH400 all matching numbers. Has the factory HEI in it that they started in January 74. Also had been garaged for a while so there was some stuff that needed replacing like the transmission pan gasket, oil pan gasket, basic things here and there. Interior's needing a lot of help. New dash will be here friday as far as FedEx says and I'll hopefully install that saturday. Will also be getting a Covan gauge panel with Autometer guages but that's possibly later. Most of the interior is sitting in my spare bedroom right now to my wife's disapproval, ha ha. But she loves the car also and just wishes it was already done so we can be driving it. There's a lot of electrical problems that I've been hunting down one at a time and repairing. Finally got all the rear lights working like they're supposed to last weekend. Would like to upgrade to a more modern fuse and circuit system but that's way in the future.

It's got edelbrock intake, carb and a cam but I don't know the stats on that since it was installed before I bought it.

Anyways, here's some pics. I'm giong to be replacing the valve covers soon for something more practical and not so cheap. The guy who had this before me bought one of those 30 dollar chrome dress up kits and put that on there.

Looking forward to the forums!

Jason

Welcome to the forum. That's a nice looking 2nd gen, and clean. You have come a far way with the car, good luck on the rest, pretty minor compared to what has already been done.

ChevyLuvr> Thanks!

Hey, is there a way to find people in your area? I was looking to see if there was a Camaro club in Raleigh but so far no dice. I'd like to find some people of like minds close by. Maybe we can do region specific areas of the forum to announce carshows, meets, etc. that can be divided down to locality? Just wondering.
