Smile I am a new member

Hi, My name is Sher and I am a new member. It is great to be here, as I am sure many of you are very knowledgeable on Camaros. I have a 94 Z28 and my convertible top started giving me a problem. The top is up and when I press the button to put it down, it makes no noise and will not go down. When I press the button to put it up, I can hear the motor running but it is already up. Any ideas from anyone as to where I would start. I was thinking it might have something to do with the hydrolics, HELP PLEASE Thanks guys!

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately I don't know much about the convertible model. But I'm sure if you use the ol' search bar there will be something to be found for ya since there are alot of knowledgeable people hangin around here.

Welcome Sher. Your problem isn't all that uncommon, and one likely cause is burned contacts inside your switch. Since your motor works in the one direction, I suspect it being an electrical supply problem. You have a rocker switch that has contact points that touch when you push it down, much the same as a power window switch. I've had those (window) switches burn the contacts (leaving a carbon buildup) on me before, and have taken it apart, sanded the contacts, and it fixed the problem. Is removing and taking apart the switch something you're capable of? If it isn't the switch, then the next thing to look at is a possible broken wire. If you need to continue a discussion further, post in the tech section. Or if you'd rather, I can move this thread to the tech section.
