What other parts do you have besides the motor and the Harness? Is the PCM, Transmission, Frame for the V8? Does your area have emission?

This was a member that did a 01 3800 to a 5.3 swap.

Many people who start this swap drop it after they see how much work is involved. You can buy a V8 body that needs a motor and it is so much less work and you sell all the left over parts for the V6 and end up paying a fraction of what it would cost to build one. Converted V6-V8 have very low values. but if you swap in a 5.3 or 6.0 in it will be worth a lot more.

The link I gave list of the simplest way to wire up V6 chassis to a V8 computer, There is no mention of the fuse box or body harness and none of the other people that have done the conversion have mentioned it. The guys that have eliminated the body control module end up rewiring a large part of the car to get everything to work. Most of those guys used stand alone racing harnesses.

By "V6 rack to V8" mean you have the Kmember for the V8? Motor is already installed? The rest of the LS harness is not plug and play. Did you grab the gages from the V8 car? You can not just unplug a v6 harness and plug in a V8 harness and PCM. What year is the harness? The 01 and 02 harnesses are very different from a 96.

I found this. I am sure there is better out there. He did not start with a stock harness. Problem with a stock harness is they change depending on the year. Your 96 never had a LS, a 98 did. I assume if you have a 2000 V6 and a 2000 V8 doner you could pull everything Harness and modules.

You would still need the V8 radiator and fans. I am curious if you have the truck accessories brackets for the power steering, alternator ? do they fit ok?
