Default 1994 chevy camaro v6 possible t56 trans swap

Hi im new to this forum and to domestic cars entirely im use to my japaneese imports. But i have a 1994 chevy camaro with the 3.4l v6 i want to turbo or procharge it but i read that the t5 trans are **** and tend to break after 270 rwhp and i will not drive and auto (personal prefrence) so im wonder since the 4l60e trans is used on both v6 and v8 motors would it be possible for me to mount up the t56 from a z28 camaro or a c5 vette to my v6 or do i need to get a trans plate to make it work idc eother way just hopeing to do less work. Thx guys and gals.

Just so you know the 3.4 does not respond to turbos well, The exhaust side of the head is a limiting factor that is why the 3.4 is rarely modded and has very few aftermarket parts available for it. I have heard of people converting the heads off a newer FWD 3.4 but it takes a lot of work. It is torque that breaks transmissions and I seriously doubt you will make enough torque to need more then a T5. Even if you get decent HP out of the 3.4 it will be a high RPMs with relatively low torque. The other downside to the 3.4 and the T56 is that the 3.4 does not have the low end torque to use 6th gear. I know of one person that converted a 3800 to a T56. It was a waste of the lot of money. He had to have custom parts made to make the clutch/flywheel work. He admitted the 6th gear was unusable under 100 MPH and if he wanted to go faster then 100 he had to down shift into 5th to put the 3800 back in its power band.

You could spend a lot of money and even more hours and not get to a stock LT1 performance. At todays prices you can buy a LT1 car for less then a decent turbo kit.
