Default 94 3.4 t5 to t56 swap

Hey guys! I'm new here so be nice haha! Just kidding. So here's the deal: I've got a 94 3.4 with a t5 in it and a reman motor. I just found out its got a blown head gasket, so I'm going to be installing a replacement long block and got to thinking about rebuilding my t5 because its a little sloppy. It's got 170k on it though so not bad. Anyways, I'm thinking if swapping in a t56 while I have the engine out, and I was wondering what all I would need to do make this swap work, or if it's even do able without 2k in custom parts!

Thanks all!

not sure on the fit bu i dont think the v6 is 6 speed friendly. maybe put different gears in the rear to keep it from lugging.

I know of one person that has done it to a 3800. None of the parts between the transmission and the engine existed so everything has to be made. Do you have a machine shop?
The other thing to look at is a T56 Z28 is running about 1100 RPM @ 65 MPH. With you T5 slow down your V6 in 5th gear to 1100 RPMs and see how it reacts.

I don’t know the 3.4s but the 3800 likes 2000 RPMs. I cannot imagine the engine is efficient under 1500. I seriously doubt a stock 3800 could even use the 6 gear under 80 MPH nor do I thing the 3800 would have the torque to push the car faster in 6th gear than it could in 5th gear.

Okay. I was thinking I would probably have to bump up the rear to maybe a 4.10 anyways. This is all just postulation by the way guys. I don't have the money to do any if this right now. So the bell housing for an lt1 and the 3.4 are different, and therefore I can probably assume that everything else is not swappable either. That's what you guys are saying, yeah?

Also, if I decide to not do the swap, is it worth the $380 for the rebuild kit for a T5? Like, will it make a difference even?
