Default Z28 wont stay running!

my 94 z28 will fire for a second on startup, briefly idles(1 second), and shuts off.. im leaning toward bad fuel pump, but im not sure. the battery went dead from turning it, but when jumped it stayed running without missing until i shut it off. i tried to fire it back up and it would do the same thing it was doing. what is going on? thanks[/align]

have you had problems with the computer?
Vacuum leak?

let your car sit over night and then check for fuel pressure.
fuel filter is cheep and does wonders.

I have a 93 z28 and my computer went out. it was running like it had a bad opti spark. so i replaced it and it dident help. so i got a new ecm "computer" and i drove it all day and the next day i went to go to work and it was doing the same thing that you are talking about. so they gave me a new computer and it has run grate ever sence.

yours is a 94 I am not shere if you and the ecm or the pcm so i realy dont know for shere.

Is the car throwing any codes?

Sounds like an opti problem to me, but if the SES light is on you should try and pull some codes for us.

The fact that it stayed running while jumped with another car should be a good clue. Its not going to be the fuel pump then, I would lean to wards something electrical obviously. How long did it crank before starting while it ran fine? I had a 97 that, as the opti got worse, would take longer to crank and wouldnt stay running and eventually wouldnt start period. Other than that start with the basics, small of course. Optis are xpensive, check maybe the ICM, maybe there is a break somewhere in the electrical? Sorry Im not of much help, but this sounds alot like when my Opti went out other than the running while jumped thing[sm=insomnia.gif]......
