i'm currently getting my whole drivetran ripped out and rebuilt. I was wondering, i do alot of street racing, and if its better to have a manuel or an automatic transmission. Like say if i do 1/4 mile 0-100mph races, what would be better?

 

If that all you want to accomplish, go auto, high stall speed converter and fat gears, like 4.11 or 4.56. Make sure to use slicks, or all you will get is smoke.

 

If you plan on driveing the car on the street the six speed has better economy and all you need for the strip is a good flywheele and a metalic clutch. The disadvantage of manual is driver error a short throw helps but it won't stop you from miss shifting.
