Default Throw out bearing

Hey guys, just wondering if you could help me. I have a 95 Lt1 and when i take off on first gear i always hear a grinding noise. I have heard this could be something caused from a throwout bearing. If so how serious is it and how costly will it be to repair. Thanks for all the help.

Make sure you are fully in gear before engaging the clutch. If it is the throwout bearing, it won't be a simple fix. The transmission will have to come out before the bearing can be replaced. It would be a good idea to also replace the clutch at this time, being that the transmission is already out. I would guess the cost at around $ 500 for labor, plus parts.

You can keep driving till the bearing self destructs, and you won't be able to release the clutch. When that time comes replace the bearing and the pressure plate.
