Lightbulb Replacing the starter on 96 Z28. PLease help!

I have recently been having trouble starting my car until yesterday when it wouldnt start at all. I kept getting a grinding sound before it would turn over and eventually i got nothing at all when trying to leave for work (lucky me). I have to replace it so im looking to get help on using a starter i picked up from a local yard. After I got home to compare the starters i noticed they looked a little different. My main issue is actually getting to the starter on my vehicle. its trapped behind the exhaust pipe that runs under it. I'm wondering if i have to remove that pipe and if so, how should I? Also, the starter i picked up was off of a 95 3.4L and I have a 96 Z28. The guy assured me it would work but once again im looking to be sure. Please help with any info.

it's a different starter. A starter is not an item I'd buy at a junkyard

New Starter Camaro Z28 Firebird Trans Am 5.7L 95 96 97

$70 plus $10 shipping for a new starter

Thanks for the input and the link! I was told by the parts store as well as a shop i called that the starters were interchangeable... If i find out otherwise i'll definitely be using that site.

yea I paid $200 also. but I didnt have to drop the y pipe. I removed the inspection cover for the flywheel, and i gave enough clearance.
