Default replacing the starter

so the starter on my 95 went the other day the solenoid snapped off i got the old one out but for the life of me cant get the new one in the oil pan and exhaust are too close together does anyone know any tricks to getting it in there with out having to unbolt the exhaust or pan

Mine was too close too. It was because my exhaust was bent from bottoming out the car. I ended up unbolting the engine, and jacking it up 3 inches. That was enough room to get it out. It took about 15 minutes.

I had to replace mine not too long ago. I was told to have someone else under there with me to pull the exhaust aside a little but couldnt manage to do it. I ended up unbolting the y pipe and it came down. Wasn't too hard and didnt take too long. Its just 2 bolts on both sides of the y pipe. The rest is a piece of cake

i got it in ended up cutting off a chunk of the trans (an unused bolt hole) and grinding down a little bit of the starter where it was hitting the y pipe GAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY what a btch 8 hrs to change a starter that should have only taken 20 min (sometimes i miss my 4 cylinder everythings so easy to get at)
