random shut off
The other day i was driving to work coasting down a hill in neutral, btw my car is a 97 z-28 6spd. I have had some issues with it in the past, but it was distributor and ignition related. It hasnt been misfiring, stumbling, or doing anything suspect for the last few months and then it just died in traffc, it didnt sputter or pop it just died like someone turned the key to the off position. As soon as i noticed power steering was gone i went to restart it and it started right up with no prolbem at all. i checked all the electrical connections and they are in proper working order, so the only thing i could think of is that when i had the opti replaced, i also had the coil, plugs, wires and water pump replaced, but not the ignition control module. Ive been told that if the ICM goes bad it can do things of this nature, is that possible? But then when talking to the guy at NAPA he said some of their delivery vehicles would do the same thing and all they would do is change the oil and oil filter and it would clear right up no problem. Starting with the cheaper solution i had the oil changed today. the last time it died was last night on my way home from work. it ran kinda funky this morning to but after the oil change it feels smoother and stronger. How could that be if the last oil change i did wasnt even 2500 miles ago?
