Question about Cats???
#11
Yes, I did, should be here Wednesday or Thursday. Let you know shortly. It's already pretty beastly sounding through the old OEM cats with 165k on them! lol and the new SLP exhaust, looking forward to hearing it tone down a little.

Well after multiple shipping issues stemming from seller's communication or lack of finally got them and got them put on this week.
Pro's: sound better than the GM original ones at 161.000 miles. Look clean and have a warranty registration card if the wear out.
Negatives: Design and fit issues abound. Both sensor bungs are in very inconvenients places. Front is 1/4" vertically mouted parallel to side of oilpan. Could have easily been moved away even just a little would have helped. Rear faces toward the tranny bushing and right into it. Again slight relocate would have made alot easier. The x-over pipe butts right onto and runs touching the crossmember. Finally there was a big rough uncut section at the manifold flamge that would have cut right through the gasket. It took four times longer to install that it should have having to rebend, grind and heat to adjust sensor bungs for clearance issues than it should have.
Either eliminate or get GM is my feedback. They are in look and sound fine now but poorly engineered or just sloppy QC.

On my 95 I gutted the cats and welded the shells around pipes if the car is tuned you wont fail the test (well at least not in IL, not sure about the state you are in) at least i didn't fail it. Also if they look under it it looks like you have cats.
