CATS/exhaust question

CATS/exhaust question
If I get a custom Y-pipe that will replace my cats and bolt up to my stock manifolds and to my catback exhaust...will I have any problems? Will I have any stupid check engine lights come on? Anything will help me! Thanks.

RE: CATS/exhaust question
If your doing a track only car, then you won't have any problems. If it's a street car, check your local emmision laws. Most states require that you have all original emmission control devices installed. In high emmisssion cities, most muffler shops won't modify exhaust systems at all.

RE: CATS/exhaust question
My car is a 2000 Camaro. I don't live in a high emissions city at all. I believe that my muffler shop would do it. I just didn't want to do it and then have check engine lights come on or something else happen. I didn't know if it would hurt anything or be beneficial?

RE: CATS/exhaust question
I would suggest looking at where your O2 sensor is, if it's upstream (befor the cat) then it won't matter , if it's downstream (after the cat) then the ECM wont get the proper signal from the O2 and throw a MAL indicator and/or make the motor run poorly.
