Your 95 has OBDII the reader you bought will not work with your car. Even tho the 95 still only has 1 O2 sensor it is running the OBDII diagnostics system. Kinda confusing I know but head back to Kragen (Or O'Reilly if they changed over already) and get them to read the codes for you.

GM OBDI (or ALDL as GM calls it) can be read by shorting pins A & B and counting the blinks of the CEL. the first code that will come up on a GM ALDL system is 12 which means no tach signal. This is normal and when you see 12 blink again you know that all the codes have been given. Each code will blink 3 times then move to the next higher number.

The 95 PCM is OBDI but the connector is OBDII. You need a OBDI scanner, not a cheap code reader, and a cable to convert the OBDII pin out to OBDI pin out. The cable is provided with good OBDI scanners, or one can be cobbled up in your garage. The codes cannot be blinked on 94 & newer.

TIG raises his hand because he knows the answer

with a 95 Z28

I use the Actron 9145

it plugs in, reads codes as well as data when the car is running

It also works on all your OBD2 vehicles

The Actron 9145 is a good chioce, as it can read both OBDI & OBDII and all necessary cables are available.
