They only pop when doing certain things so i need one thati can have tell me what it is as i am driving down the road. I was wondering if any of you have one to do this? If so, where did ya get it and how much?

What you really need is a scanner, rather than a code reader. Actron makes some reasonable priced ones, but I'm not sure if they have OBD1, Auto X Ray makes one that does both. Or you can try E-bay for a used one. I was able to get a OTC professional grade tool for $250. By the way, all 3 are made by SPX.

Sorry Mike, didn't mean to mess with your post. Wanted to reply to it but wound up adding my stuff to yours instead. All back normal now.
