i havent bought the headers yet, but i have a cat back, and i dont plan on getting a cam for a little while because of lack of money, do u think it would be alright if i just ported the heads and put the lt4 manifold on, i did the cai and the thermistat, and i already have it programed. and how much power increase should expect?

no im quite sure that the lt4 intake bolts up fine to lt1 heads. the lt4 intake has more meat on it for porting. the only thing that makes me quite sure on that is the heads im buyin are trickflow lt4 heads and its reccomended to use an lt4 intake but i asked about usin an lt1 intake and was told itd be fine but i would see the results lik i would with a ported lt4. could be wrong but im pretty sure they'll bolt up.

The LT4 intake is powder coated red and the intake runners are raised 0.10" over the LT1 intake. They don't flow any better in stock form. It will bolt up to the stock LT1 heads, but the ports will not match exactly. The LT4 has some extra material built into the casting that allows for greater porting so you can make it flow better with some work.

You should get headers first before you start digging into the motor at all. You really want to do a full head/cam package so you know all the parts are matched well so you can make the best numbers, but that's going to run you a pretty penny. That said, you want to get your basic bolt-ons out of the way first so you know you can support all the extra flow the new internals would get you. If you look at the design for an LTx intake manifold extra porting isn't going to get you very much HP, probably next to nothing unless you're running a 383 with some work done to it. The LT intake manifold flows more than enough for all but the most extreme builds.
