The LT4 Hot cam Kit is a really good deal ( Cam, Valve Springs and Roller Rockers )and will wake it up alot. I've done alot of these and have seen 50+ HP gain on an engine dyno. I've found that the 1.94" valves are plenty big enough ( torque ) and with a good port job ( one done by a pro with a flow bench ). I've seen 100+HP with the LT4 cam and porting ( 405 @ the rear wheels ) and shorty headers.

no freaking way, the lt4 kit puts that much HP. I am new to camaro's and seeing a gain like this from a cam change is wierd without having forced induction first. This definately worth looking at.

I bought a set of hooker long tube headers for my 97z I was told that they are the way to go. but there not emissions compatible. I have A.I.R. and EGR and was wondering how to keep the check engine light off and pass an OBD II emissions test. if anyone could help me out I would appreciate it

I just put the hooker long tubes on my car. I installed the o2 sensor extensions for the up stream and put the o2 simulators for the down stream o2 sensors. I removed the AIR pump and all the tubes. however, the egr is another problem. I unbolted the tube from the back of the intake and made a plate to cover the opening and put a gasket between my plate and the intake. will this be ok to leave it like this or does another company make special block offs? I have yet to have the egr and air deleted from the computer but that is the next investment. I'd appreciate any useful input.

You're right, The cam change will not give this kind of power without a good port job. I don't know how much You know about how an engine works, but it's simply an air pump. If You install the cam kit only, You'd be lucky to gain 40+ horsepower. The biggest gain comes from the port job and headers. It's all about the combination of Air in and Air out. Those 12 second LT1 350's and 11 second LT1 383's aren't a mystery, It's all about a good engine package. Don't be too quick to judge without having all the facts. Thanks.
