Default 95 z28 and cams and headers

i have a 95 z28 with flowmasters and a cai. the engine is brand new with about 2000 miles on it.it is a 6 spd. i was wondering how much a better cam would cost and maybe some headers.how much of a performance boost would i get by getting a better cam and some headers?
thanks for reading

The worst part about a cam is the extras that come with it(seals, tear apart, etc...)You can get a cam for $200 to $300 but the extras will cost you more. Headers range anywhere from $350 to $1k...it's according to what length you get and if you get the coated...both together should dramatically improve your performance, though...hope this helps

You may be getting close to 300 crank HP, but that may be a stretch. Unfortunately you can't just add the power that the manufactures tell you. At any rate, I would recommend picking up a good set of Longtube headers. Don't worry about a cam yet, that's getting into big boy territory where you really have to decide what you want to do with the car.

thanks for the replies guys yea ive been looking into lt headers but my car is pretty low to the ground already and ive heard that they limit clearance even more.

It depends on what headers you get. Unfortunately that usually means you get what you pay for. My Kooks decreased my ground clearance maybe another inch, and that was the Y-pipe, not even the headers. My header collectors sit closer to the chassis than the stock cat did. I rarely scrape them, and when I do it's only on pretty extreme speed bumps.

If you get a tuned LT header, an ORY, and ditch that flowmaster for a cat-back that actually flows well, gains of 25-35 RWHP are probable. I've seen many many dynos of cars with LT's, that end up with ~275 rwhp after a tune.

for around town driving you should be more interested in torque. That's the throw you back into your seat that you feel. I'll take a stab that you have an auto tranny? Once you do the long tubes and a better flowing cat back you'll be pushing over $1k spent when you consider new wires, plugs, O2 sensors, extensions, gaskets. Then, if that doesn't saitsfy you, perhaps a gear change. A gear change will give you more neck snap.

Go to the magnaflow web site and look at the dyno numbers just for their catback on stock manifolds.
