Question Headers Questions:

So I wanna get headers for my Z.

1995 Z28 M6 Convertible
State: CA

This will be in conjuntion with GMMG catback and possibly 1LE heads and a mild cam.

So I understand that there are three types of headers: Long tube, mid length, and shorties. I have the following questions about each type of header:

Ease of installation
CA smog legality
Scavenging (and a n00b explanation of what that is)
Ground clearance (thats a biggie)
Expected HP gains if headers are the only mod
Brand preference
Sound difference (through catback & cutout)

I already read the sticky by torque_is_good, and I just wanna get some more info because I will probably buy my headers tonight. Thanks a ton everyone!!!

i have pacesetter long tubes, custom y pipe and an open exhaust cut out, its effing loud but it sounds dam good. not raspy at all, nice deep tone n rumble. one thing thought is i have cai, 58mm tb, and a 58mm ported intake,, so im taking taking in alota air to kinda match up with an open cutout. it makes sence to me , either way its sounds so dam good.
lt headers are hard as hell to install, make sure u get good gaskets, percys seal4good and i also got dif header bolts for easy tightening

I can't help you about California guidelines but you do have my sympathy.

I suggest that you call the suppliers and ask them. Then, when you find the combo that you like, go to www.nextag.com and price it and also try www.streetsideauto.com
