I own a 3rd gen right now but am considering a lt1 six speed in the next few months.i do not know to much about the lt1 engine but i want to.since they run cooler what compression do they run at stock and what could one run at with aluminum heads on 93 octane.also what will the rotating assembley take?

 

stock lt1 is 10.5 to 1 and 11 to 1 would be ok. it all depends on the motor some will take 500 hp and not blow and some 400hp motors will blow. no way of knowing until u do it. i would say 400hp is a safe number for a 2 bolt lt1 and 450 is doable. the real issue is hooking up.

 

PS,By the way...most lt-1's(at least camaro's)have aluminum heads.Except impala,buick,cadilac etc.And generally an lt-1 runs a lil hotter.Reverse flowing coolant!!!

 

the highest compression you could do on 93 is about 12:1 a few ppl run it i was gonna but went 11:6.1

 

i run 11:1, on 93 with stock ported heads
