Default Ignition Wires routing?

What type of routing do you all suggest when replacing the spark plug wires. I'm currently replacing the distributor, headers and wires. Everything is off and i'm not sure if I should stick with the stock routing, side routing by the valve covers, or over the top of the valve covers? Can the stock wires be routed differently? If not what are some wires that are able to be routed differently?

I prefer the stock wiring placement, it keeps the already cluttered engine bay looking a bit cleaner. If you are going with headers, I would recomend going to a local GM dealership and ordeing some spark plug wire heat shields(they're the metal pieces that you already have 3 or 4 of that fit over the boot on the plug wire). If you go with those, and are careful with your wire placement, you won't have any trouble with the wires in the stock location.

I like the stock location for that same reason. It also helps prevent spark jump.

Take a good look at your engine and where the distributor sits. There really no other way to route the wires unless you want to create a spider web. The original wires came with aluminum shields to prevent the exhaust from baking the plug conectors, make sure to reuse them, or use something that serves the same purpose. Otherwise you will have to revisit the spark plugs and wires, which is not a pleasant thing in this engine.
