Default MSD Ignition Wires

So I'm trying to do a local company good by buying MSD wires, who are located here in El Paso. I bought these back in December, Super Conductor 8.5mm wires. A month or so after I bought them, I had one burn through against the EGR valve. My fault really, I went between the EGR to get to number One. Lesson learned, so I thought. So I polished the throttle body the other day, put everything back, and had all sorts of problems the last week. Misfires, TPS issues, EGR issues, everything. So today I took the EGR off to clean it out and noticed the white mark of death on number Five. The wire was apparently leaning up against the EGR valve again, and cooked through. Is this a common problem with MSD, is the EGR just that hot collecting exhaust that it does that normally or what? I got a set of 9 wires, and have already used 6 plus replaced 2 more.

Any wire will melt if you let it touch hot metal, not msd's fault. You need to route the wires better it sounds like. A good rule of thumb is to not let them touch anything that can get hot, or moves.

Well, I was trying to keep it away from the EGR, I just didn't think the EGR valve would get hotter than the exhaust header, and the wires while not right on top of the headers, they are close and they hadn't burned.
