the lt1 spits oil out of the rockers, i thought something was wrong with mine when i first seen that and asked a few people about it, the amount of oil the lt1 puts out of the rockers is way less than a old sbc. maybe the flexplate is the problem or the trans has caused the flexplate to bend. i would try a new flexplate first. 153 tooth. forget what the converter pattern is

I wonder what would cause the flexplate to warp? I've never seen one warp after being installed. I have seen them get bent when knocked off the work bench though. But never one warp after installation.

One way to warp the flexplate is if you thought the torque converter was seated fully onto the input collars of the trans pump, but it wasn't. Then cranking the bellhousing against the block would be tweaking against the flexplate since there isn't any fore and aft clearance like there should be. That's the reason I asked if there was clearance between the t.c. and the flexplate after it was unbolted.

That is not as uncommon as you might think. I have seen the weights coming lose on atleast 4 seprate times. One of those times I was replacing a cracked flex plate and when engine started it made a heck of a noise. The weight was hitting the engine block. One of the spot welds did not hold. Redo. I check every flex plate since.
