i think i hate this car

so the other day i leave work as soon as i get on the highway the car looses power (engine and electrical) and starts to overheat i pull over and it stalls... and of course i cant get it to start back up finally i call my sister and she comes and gives me a jump. still with no power i limp it almost all the way home until i hit a huge hill and cant make it up it so i strap up to her car and she towed me the last mile or so... i get it home to find the radiator and about a thousand cracks in it and the bearings in the alt are shot. yesterday i got a new rad, alt, waterpump (it was under warranty i figured why not replace it) tstat, hoses, and rad cap. while i had it all apart i decided ill pull the plugs to see what they look like (i pulled just the driverside) 2 and 4 were good but 6 and 8 looked like crap black and had an odd smell i couldnt quite put my nose on (a mixture of gas exhaust and the generic smell of car) im thinking maybe my injectors arnt working right but a guy i work with said it could be the cam... now when i had the cam out i checked it out real good and everything looked ok but im thinking if it were the cam it would run like crap (the car idles great and revs like normal under no load i havent driven it yet since that day) any ideas guys

sounds like your running rich on those cylinders. take the rest of the plugs out and check them. you may have a weak coil.

BasicConcepts 08-23-2011 04:47 PM

Will do can I test the coil

BasicConcepts 08-23-2011 07:35 PM

so the pass side plugs are s****y too :(

Grandpaswagon 08-23-2011 07:42 PM

Definitely sounds like a sensor somewhere isn't working right.

Have you scanned for codes?

When you did all the work on the engine, did you replace the coil? I seem to remember that you replaced the opti, plugs and wires.

BasicConcepts 08-23-2011 08:18 PM

No I didn't replace the coil and I also haven't scanned for codes I have no way of getting it scanned

Grandpaswagon 08-23-2011 08:46 PM

Since it is a '94, you only need a simple OBDI scanner. Many auto parts stores will be able to scan it for you. Or, you can download the software online and get an OBDI-USB cable to do a simple code scan.

i hate that i cant flash the codes i have one of those scanners

so i replaced the coil and she starts up better than before only 1 little problem...
theres a real bad noise at first i thought it was a rocker so i pulled the valve covers and it looked fine so i decided to start it up and take another listen... this is what i got

now the sound seems to be coming more from the pass side of the motor and there was no oil on the plugs also in the vid theres no accessories its all motor

i also have another little side problem... theres a box under the dash that i read is for the vats now it likes to turn on when the cars off and kill my battery (the vats system was bypassed by the po) i disconnected the box and all seemed well except i lose my window controls
