high water temp

i just did a head gasket job and got them shaved downon my lt1 and the car hasnt been started since the day before and when i start it the water is instantly hot in 30 seconds why?

Did you fill and purge the air out of the cooling system completely?

Is your water really hot? Or is that just what the gauge indicates? You have to put out quite a bit of energy to heat that much water, that hot, that quick. I think you ECT sensor is going crazy.

As 02Stang said, it is pretty hard to get everything that hot so quickly. Run the engine with the radiator cap off, if you have a real overheating condition the coolant will boil out of the radiator. If not then it could be a bad ECT, bad gage, or a wiring problem. If it is actually overheating it could be a water pump problem, such as a missing drive shaft, or a head gasket blocking water passages. Hard to tell for sure from a distance.

no i'm talkin about when i start it i have the radiator cap off and as soon as i start it i feel the water and in 30 seconds its very hot
