Default High idle after replacing IAC and fixing vacuum leaks.....

My car was idling high (900 RPM) so I replaced my IAC. After that I was idling around 1400 RPM. I found some vacuum leaks and fixed those. Now my car is idling at almost 2000 RPM!!!

It does it when the car is warm. On a cold start she idles around 1000 RPM.

I have a 95 Camaro Z28 LT1. If anyone can tell me what I need to do that would be great.

I did try putting the key on then taking the batt and ign fuses out and leaving it for 5 mins, putting the fuses back then starting the car which didn't help.

How do you set the new IAC? I read the procedure from shbox. Hit the gas pedal etc. BTW how's your car running craby?

you need to pull that pindle or whatever out a bit further than your original one was so it will close all the way when its reinstalled. then in operation when it goes to the lowest setting the pindle will move on the shaft to set. to set your low idle you need to get the system in diagnostic mode then un plug the iac and set the idle at 4 to 500. the iac should be in the closed position in diagnostic mode. the way shbox does it is to apply power to the iac to close it then without plugging it back in set idle.

Do you mean the screw on the throttle body that adjust the idle? I know that starting the car with the iac unplugged puts it in diagnostics mode. I'm just not sure about the pindle and where it is. Thanks for your help.

yes if your trying to set the minimum idle. the computer uses it when decelerating otherwise it shouldn't ever get that low. iac is open almost all the time so if you unplug it it will not close, lol. on mine i just flash for codes (93) and that puts it in diagnostic mode.

also need to check your tps setting if your adjusting idle. tps setting can effect idle. https://camaroforums.com/forum/93-02...-sensor-70605/

Thanks for the info. I'm currently out of town for business so I'm not near the car until next week.
