Default fuel pump?/opti?

so my car shops told my my fuel pump has a check valve that stops fuel from flowing back into the tank when the car is turned off. he says its stuck open so i have to turn the key on and off like 10 times to reprime for start up.

now i replaced the opti and the car wouldnt start took it in they told me ecu had a short replaced that then told me the opti i put in was a lemmon which i got from jegs.so they ripped it all back open and put a new opti in. so i got the car back and now the fuel pump is doing that but it didnt do it before the opti went bad any way to fix that or just need new fuel pump? also i got my car back and she still doesnt seem right she seems like she is missing/bogging from time to time. i take it back in and he cant tell me whats wrong says its some code for the opti but doesnt know. im stressed out of my mind and sick of paying for crap they dont know whats wrong any ideas or help! sorry if this is long drawn on but im just really pissed right now! haha

the shop where you brought it must have checked fuel pressure; didn't they?

I'm guessing by your name that it's a 1994 Z28??? (no wisecracks Camaro69)

they should also be able to read your computer.

Do yourself a favor, go to www.aldlcable.com and buy the cable. It will include some scanning software. You can then also invest $70 at www.lt1pcmtuning.com where he will read the results and provide a tune for you if the car is in good shape. If not, he'll wait and then provide a tune but he is also great at pointing you to solutions based upon the readout.

You will then own the cable and be able to better understand the results of the data logging as time goes by.

Sorry, my assumption is that you have a laptop PC onto which to connect the cable and bring out to your car. if you don't, then kindly disregard this post.

jegs usually has a warrenty on its stuff. did you call and ask? did the guy tell you what the code was, like a dtc 16 or dtc 36? it would help a great deal if we knew what code it is throwing. a failing fuel pressure regulator can also allow the fuel pressure to drop right away. do you know if they tested it? if you can change the opti you can do most things to these motors and you should be able to change the fuel pump. use the hatch mod, way easier and if the pump is bogus and goes its a easy change. good start would be to pick up a factory service/shop manual for your yr.

Right click an image, then click "view image" and it will open up in it's own window. Or you can save the image after you right click.
